On the way to Trincomalee, we passed Habarana and also Galoya area which has a great bio diversity and lots of natural beauty. You can stay few hours there , perfect places for nice photography.
There are many places to visit in Trincomalee. If you are planning only 1 day for Trincomalee, that’s not going to be enough. At least you have to spend 1 night and spend 2 days in Trincomalee to get the most of it.

Koneswaram Temple (Hindu Temple)
When you are visiting Trincomalee, don’t miss this temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva who is a great king among Tamil people. This is one of the oldest temples in Sri Lanka and stories goes to the age of King Ravana. There are many legends around here, This temple is created according to Dravidian architecture. If you are traveling in this area, and if you are more interested about Hindu culture and need to know about them, this is the best place around Trincomalee.

After spending time at the temple, we went to Trincomalee beach. One of the best beaches in Sri Lanka. Since many people visit this area, beach area is bit crowded. But it has an amazing and unique view. This is a good area for water sports and also swimming.
If you can go to Nilaveli beach, you can visit Pigeon Island too. You have to take a boat ride and it will cost around LKR 3000 per boat and it’s like 30 mins to Pigeon island from mainland. The main importance is Pigeon island is one of the two marine national parks in Sri Lanka. This area is also famous for Coral and numerous species of marine life.

After spending some time at the beach, we wanted to eat something. If you are looking for some classy and good quality restaurants, they are so rare in this area. You can enjoy a seafood meal, but most of the places are not so good. But we finally found this place near the beach.
The name of the place is “Dutch Bank Cafe”. This is the same old location of the old Dutch Bank. This is the reason for the name of this restaurant. We had our lunch and also next day breakfast from this place because this is the only good place we could find in this area.

Left side photos shows you the lunch we had. It's beef , some rice and vegetables. That's really good. And the right side photos shows you the cream cappuccino I had after my lunch.
There are many places to spend a night in Trincomalee. You can select a hotel as you like to spend for that. And also there are many home stay like places and bed and breakfast places around here. Always be careful to look for comments and reviews if you are booking online.
Trincomalee is a good place to travel and have a good vacation. But if you are living there, life is not so comfortable and easy. There are no enough facilities in villages and cities of Trincomalee. Some people only work for meals without getting paid.

The next day, we planned to Visit Kinniya Bridge because it’s the longest bridge in Sri Lanka with the length of nearly 400 meters. And we planned this bridge because we wanted to visit Batticaloa. If you are travelling in this area, this is a must watch place and don’t miss this. This bridge is created after the Sri Lankan civil war with LTTE terrorists. When you are using drone, you can see a nice temple ( stupa ) is next to the bridge.

If you are using a drone, make sure to follow all the rules. There is a air port in this area. So please ve kind enough to stay under the maximum distance and height limitations. You can see this amazing view to a drone. This is also next to the Kinniya Bridge.
